Workers Losing in the War on Middle Class

Most people find it hard to tear themselves away from this week’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” long enough to let the truth of the destruction of the American middle class sink in.
When economic and social justice advocates point out the truth – that Americans have been economically crippled as a matter of policy – they are accused of waging class warfare, but it is the rich corporate owners and banksters who are guilty of class warfare – and they are winning.
The so-called Reagan Revolution was where it all began with the systematic dismantling of regulation that was meant to prevent Republican greed from collapsing the economy as it did to bring on the first Republican Great Depression.
With Reagan, Republicans wasted no time in giving the rich a big wet kiss by shifting the tax burden (once 90% under that Socialist Dwight D. Eisenhower) to the middle class. Reagan’s next move was to bust unions, stagnate wages while simultaneously increasing credit to give the illusion of wealth.
Republicans then went after education – doing away with civics classes and making education another brass ring that could be grasped only by accumulating massive debt. Read a great essay about tax reform, Reagan and class warfare here.
Debt served to create a society of indentured servants who may think they work for XYZ Company, but really work for the bank.
One of the last pieces of this recipe for Oligarchy was to deregulate the media. Reagan did away with media ownership laws as well as the Fairness doctrine, which made propagandists like Rush Limbaugh possible. The airwaves were then flooded with pro-corporate, anti-worker Republican propaganda to keep the people stupid enough to vote Republican.
Bill Clinton put the nail in the coffin with NAFTA, CAFTA and GATT, which served to dismantle our manufacturing base and shipped our jobs overseas.
Now, outrageously, CNN Money is saying that Americans are overpaid – giving voice to the Oligarch’s wet dream of having Americans compete for jobs with Chinese slaves. The REAL outrage is that they have destroyed the American middle class and that the top 1% controls 90% of the wealth

These little people are SO GREEDY!!
If you ever had any doubt that the rich and their Republican co-conspirators hate a government of “We The People” and are rapidly trying to turn “The Land of the Free” into “The United States of Serfs and Lords,” then this call to reduce EVEN MORE the wages of American workers should wake you out of your stupor.
These corporate pigs are also complaining that, if some Democrats have their way, they won’t be allowed to sell the products in America if made by child slaves or forced prisoner labor – proving once again that Capitalism is an inherently immoral system which values human life only in context of the bottom line.
You have some trinket that you want to sell but can make more profit if its made by an undernourished 7-year-old who won’t live to see her 30th birthday then that little bitch better get those tiny fingers moving!
American workers can’t compete with Chinese slaves. We must remember that any and all progress that American workers ever enjoyed was due to the blood of union workers who fought, and in some cases, died for those rights. If you like a 40 hour work week, paid vacation, weekends off, unemployment insurance, sick days… etc.. then you better thank a union. As Frederick Douglass said, “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.”
We need a new labor movement in America to push for STRONG re-regulation of the ghouls on Wall Street and strong Tariffs which will bring our manufacturing base back home.
Unfortunately, even some liberals and Democrats have swallowed the “free trade” “I’m not protectionist” propaganda.
Let’s not forget that the filthy Republicans did away with the “buy American” provision in the TARP stimulus. No matter what they tell their mouth-breathing teabagging, willfully ignorant, Stockholm Syndrome suffering base, Republicans are loyal to themselves and the unholy dollar – and they will throw anyone under the bus to get it – gays, women…. Child slaves… the American worker… anyone.
Conditions in this country are ripe for further disaster. As the gap between the rich and poor becomes wider, and the people become more desperate, those in power throw some red-herring issues to the mob and laugh all the way to the bank as the yokels fight amongst themselves.

Call the White House & tell President Obama that the People cry out for a new FDR, not a new "Republican Light" Bill Clinton • 202-456-1111
Our country has been here before. Fortunately in the 1930’s, FDR stepped in to build our country from the bottom up. Simultaneously, overseas the German people turned to an authoritarian “daddy” to steal their liberties, scapegoat an oft-maligned minority, and send a once democratic people to war based on lies. It CAN happen here – as the eight long years of outrages against the Constitution can attest.
President Obama better channel his inner FDR before the American dream gets even more nightmarish.

I hope the Democrats learn from history and DO NOT compromise when it come to SS and Medicare. We must also once again become the party of labor and demand FDR’s second Bill of Rights which calls for all worker to be represented by a union. Every constitution we help write after WWII contains such a guarantee.
We must act now before it is too late. America as it was known to be pre 1981 is a thing of the past. And with the past has gone the working class.
