Author: Republicans Make Osama Bin Laden’s Dreams Come True.
Thom Hartmann schools Dinesh D’Souza about the fact that if we had followed Jimmy Carter’s proposed energy policy to get us off of foreign oil in 1977 we would not be in the mess we’re in now almost 33 years later. D’Souza actually admits that we would not be in the Middle East were it not for our dependence on that oil.
Fast forward to today… it is clear that Republicans have absolutely no vision for this country, and would rather slowly kill the dreams of our Founders, the American Middle Class AND the environment if it means making a quick buck for the Economic Royalists they truly represent. ALL of this plays right into the hands of the man they swear they want “Dead or Alive” but who they get much more mileage out of while “at large” and free to scare the the “freedom” off of inherent cowardly Republicans.
Take the case of the Underpants Bomber.
From attacking health insurance reform to praising God Almighty, within minutes of the President’s speech today on National Security and the failed Christmas attack, Republicans went straight to work making sure their followers don’t get the idea that <em>real </em>”freedom” requires courage and the world is more complex than “bring ‘em on.”
Given that Republicans exist only to turn “The Land of the Free” into “The United States of Serfs and Lords,” leading spokespeople for the “Party of No” never miss the chance to advance their completely partisan, fear-based, greed-centered agenda.
The fact is that Republicans have nothing to offer 99% of Americans and exist only to ingratiate the rich. They must count on duping their willfully ignorant supporters into believing the myth that they are strong on national security when their schoolyard thug, cowboy ways serve only to give Osama Bin Laden exactly what he wants – the bankrupting of America.
The TRUTH is that Republican ignorance and greed is the reason that we are entrenched in a quagmire draining us of treasure and lives and beholden to foreign energy cartels. This downward spiral can be traced directly to the doorstep of Republican Saint Ronald Reagan (see Thom Hartmann’s video above and his article about how Jimmy Carter Tried To Stop Bush’s Energy Disasters) who made a conscious decision to disregard President Carter’s energy plan by taking the solar panels off the White House and actively getting back in bed with the Saudis.
Republicans have absolutely no vision for this country, and would rather slowly kill the dreams of our Founders, the American Middle Class AND the environment if it means making a quick buck for the Economic Royalists they truly represent.
In response the Underpants Bomber, it was refreshing to hear a President speak to normal people (non-Republicans) as if they were actual mature adults, calling on citizens to approach the so-called “War on Terror” in a constructive, non-partisan fashion in order to advance the interests of America as a whole.
“Instead of giving into cynicism and division, let’s move forward with the confidence and optimism and unity that defines us as a people. For now is not a time for partisanship, it’s a time for citizenship — a time to come together and work together with the seriousness of purpose that our national security demands.
That’s what it means to be strong in the face of violent extremism. That’s how we will prevail in this fight. And that’s how we will protect our country and pass it — safer and stronger — to the next generation.” (Read the entire transcript here.)

In a side note, I want to give a shout-out to Thom Hartmann for actually playing my voicemail to him in which I requested he stop saying words in ways that annoy me. I LOVE Thom and want him to know being forced to live in the land of Republican Dirty Tricks makes me quite cranky and irritable sometimes. Keep talking Thom – however you find comfortable! Just keep talking!
