Republican Facebook Poll Asks, “Should Obama Be Killed?”

From the time of the Presidential campaign and the subsequent election of Barack Obama, the Republican Death Cult and their Stockholm Syndrome Suffering followers have become increasingly desperate to “get their country back” from the uppity African-American their fellow citizens legally chose to lead the country out of the economic and political disaster area Republicans George W. Bush and Darth Cheney left behind.
Regardless of the fact that Republican policies favor the rich at the expense of the rest of us and have been slowly turning the United States into a nation of serfs and lords, their woefully uninformed base has been so manipulated by right-wing media, as well as the Republican tactics of fear and division, that they have convinced them that Republicans are operating with the interest of the Middle Class in mind. The good news it that normal Americans have grown increasingly more savvy to Republican deception and are systematically rejecting their dead-end ideology.
Into this environment where they feel their influence slipping away, Republicans increasingly call for violence against the President.
These calls aren’t limited to the fringe as when the Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin stood silent when someone yelled “kill him” at a Republican rally and again when a person yelled “off with his head” a few days later. These were not isolated incidents. Republican Mike Huckabee, known for defending the Confederate Flag n South Carolina, also made a joke about candidate Obama dodging gunfire.
Given that the right wing media that blankets this country from sea to shining sea, the echo chamber continuously and consciously ramps up paranoia about the government. It’s no surprise that death threats against the President up 400%.kill
The latest incident happened on Facebook when a (undoubtedly) Republican posted a poll asking,
“Should Obama be Killed?
The responses include: “yes,” “maybe,” “if he cuts my health care,” and “no.”
Never mind that if President Obama’s reforms are implemented without Republican obstruction, Americans will have better and more affordable health care – not “cuts” in health care. Republicans never let the facts interfere with their desire to make sure corporations can exploit Americans without being regulated and are quite willing to lie and spread propaganda.
As threatening the life of the President is a crime, the Secret Service is now investigating the poll, which, before it was removed from the site had 730 respondents.
Could you IMAGINE if someone had put up a poll calling for the death of George W. Bush?
These threats are clearly the result of what former President Carter called an “inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president.” See that video here.
There was an immediate backlash against Carter’s statement from both elements on the right as well as the left. Former President Bill Clinton posited a sophomoric counter-point that posited since right-wingers had gone after him during his time in office it must be true that the attacks on President Obama were not based on his race.
Its true that right-wingers would be attacking President Obama whether he was black or white, but Republicans are clearly exploiting their supporters inherent fear of brown people by implicitly and complicity backing their lunatic movements like the “Birthers” in an attempt to insinuate that the President is a mysterious, dangerous, “Manchurian Candidate” outsider.
Currently an Infomercial running in the failed state of Texas; dying under the crushing failures of Republican policies; whose citizens desperately need the reforms President Obama is trying to implement, that cites prominent Republicans from the legislative branch such as Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Freshman Republican Congressman Bill Posey of Florida, who has introduced a bill in the House that would require future presidential candidates to submit a birth certificate to prove that they are natural-born citizens as a wink and a nod to the very loons who post unbelievably shocking polls like the one on Facebook.
Sane people are left to watch Republicans implode with delusions and wonder why they hate our system so vehemently. The fact that they actively coarsen public discourse with lies and calls for violence is further evidence that their loyalties lie with themselves, not with the country we share.
The Republican leadership wants power by any means in order to rig the game in their favor. Republicans work not for their idiot supporters, who they laugh at behind their backs, but for the corporations that purchase them to fight for their interests over the interests of the “huddled masses.”
The numbers speak for themselves. The top 400 taxpayers in the U.S. pay a 17 percent tax rate, while the rest of us pay 33 – 37%. The corporate media then operates as a protection racket that has these poor saps convinced that they should fight for the interests of the ubber-rich. They convince them to take to the streets under the orders of Glenn Beck to defend the very policies that are crushing them.
The cries of “Socialist” are nothing new. They did that to FDR as he was trying to implement “The New Deal.” It’s the “dog whistle” language calling for the President’s death that is only possible because, in their eyes he’s not the President, he’s just a black man.
