Sigh…  If only Barack Obama was ¼ of the Socialist our corporate overlords and their Republican operatives in government are busy convincing the Teatards he is.  Unfortunately for those of us in the reality-based community (non-Republicans/normal people) he is, like Bill Clinton, a moderate Republican to the right of Dwight D. Eisenhower.

In the face of the second collapse of Capitalism within a century, we are forced again to try and regulate the greed-centered sociopaths whose allegiances lay not in country or community – but to themselves and the unholy dollar.

It is a testament to the depth of corruption of these big-moneyed interests in our so-called government of “We The People,” that President Obama was forced to tip-toe lightly into the presence of criminals who have raped and pillaged the country to ask them politely to play nice with the dumb Serfs from now on.

Recently, Matt Taibbi laid out in Rolling Stone how Goldman Sachs has engineered every major market manipulation since the Great Depression – and are doing it again since given the chance by the systematic dismantling of New Deal policies meant to prevent another Great Depression.

At the time of the first Republican Great Depression, FDR said,

“We had to struggle with the old enemies of peace‹business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking, class antagonism, sectionalism, war profiteering. They had begun to consider the Government of the United States as a mere appendage to their own affairs. We know now that Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob.

Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me‹and I welcome their hatred.

I should like to have it said of my first Administration that in it the forces of selfishness and of lust for power met their match.”  Read and hear the whole speech.

That was then and this is now.  It only took from the time of the so-called  Reagan Revolution – around 30 years – for Republicans to implement the dictates of the Powell Memo, begin the dismantling of New Deal policies and turn the United States into the LEAST upwardly mobile country in the industrialized world.

Just yesterday, McClatchy reported that credit-ratings agencies knowingly gave positive ratings to dodgy financial products in exchange for lucrative fees.

Financial fraud is nothing new, yet the American People are supposed to congratulate our “betters” by taxing them less and leaving them alone to rape us again –all for the sake of the fabled “Main Street” that all the “freedom”of the “free market” is supposed to rally to save.

The depths of their unconscionable deceptions are nothing new and, unfortunately quite common – yet we the Plebeians of the United States of Serfs and Lords are not supposed to “begrudge” anyone a rapacious profit – because profit is the only motivation of value in a system that elevates greed and selfishness to a virtue.

FDR.  We need you.

When President Obama was elected in a landslide under the banner of “hope” and “Change,” I like other liberals held my breath and hoped he would come out swinging like FDR against the corporations who have co-opted our government.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt grew up in a wealthy family in New York but the American aristocracy would come to call him a “traitor to his class” because of the policies he championed that reigned in the corrupt bankster class, put government on the side of the People over corporations, and created a semblance of a social safety net.   Barack Obama grew up in a single parent, middle class, family and is his actions so far point to the fact that he is far from the man I hoped he would be.

FDR’s New Deal helped save America from the fist Republican Great Depression brought on by the same greed and lack of regulation which brought us the current crisis.  The Republicans have been dismantling the New Deal whenever and however they can, and walla – another bubble and crash.  The Republican Party has no actual solutions – they only have an ideology that fails whenever its tried.  Yet, they hang on to it like the dead-enders they are.  There is no “free market” in the same way that a game of football is just an unorganized mob if there are no rules.   I, for one, am grateful that my ass doesn’t explode with a bout of explosive diarreha whenever I, say, drink tap water due to government regulatory standards.

Ideally, WE are the government and government should be on the side of the People by regulating the corporations who have their boots on our necks.  In reality we have a corrupted government whose agents (ALL Republican politicians and a LARGE PART of Democratic politicians) operate inside government to rig the game against the People.   Government is the only entity large enough to stand between rapacious corporations and the people they seek to exploit without restraint.

Right wing freaks in government and their Stockholm Syndrome suffering followers, reach into their bag of standard tricks and ignorantly label him a “Socialist.  ” In reality, Barack Obama has done everything in his power to prop up a failed Capitalist system which routinely requires taxpayer-funded subsidies to counter the destruction of greed-centered, bubble and bust cycles.

We are now approaching the end of President Obama’s first year in office and the corporate capitulation that went on with the health bill points to the fact our government may be corrupted by corporate money to the extent that it cannot be salvaged.  Without a Public Option, or Medicaid buy-in “compromise,” the health insurance bill is nothing more than the Democrats doing for the health insurance racketeers the same thing that Monica did for Bill.

I agree with Howard Dean.  This giveaway that FORCES Americans to buy insurance from the very ghoulish corporations who have killed 45,000 Americans a year and sent millions more into bankruptcy is a CRIME.

For a long time I believed that Barack Obama was playing a smart political game and would pull off REAL health reform before all was said and done – but now it is apparent that the “change” promised is only to the facade.   The faces may change, and the rhetoric coherent and inspiring, but the fundamentals  are exactly the same.  Corporations have won.  We the People are viewed as merely the hosts for parasitic companies to suck profit from until it can discard the husk and charge you for the privilege.

Healthcare: First They Came For The Banksters

First they came for the banksters, and showered them with money and put them in the Administration in a way that was not change we could believe in.

Then they came for the military industrial complex, and sent more and more of our children to die in faraway lands that had never attacked us in a way that was not change we could believe in.

And now they’ve sold out our hope for a national health care system not run by millionaire gangsters in suits.  And who is left to speak for us?

President Obama is playing the Bill Clinton game of throwing people a bone and telling them it’s steak.  Perhaps he’s doing it because he thinks it’s his only choice; perhaps it’s because he’s surrounded himself with Bill Clinton advisors (and Hillary as Secretary of State); whatever the reason, while it worked for Clinton, it won’t work for Obama.

Normal Americans (non-Republicans) know that the Republican Party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of rich Banksters and corporations that send them to Washington to make sure they can continue riding the backs of the American People to the bank.

In their ongoing war on the middle class, Republicans prove once again that they exist only to ensure the indentured servitude of the People by blocking emergency legislation to stop the abuses of Credit Card companies who are actively inflating interest rates before the full protections of the Credit Card Accountability Act goes into effect.

Although the bill passed by a wide margin (90-50, major parts of the act won’t take effect until February and August of 2010.   This “gap” existed because credit card companies begged Congress for some time between the passage of the bill and it’s implementation, explaining that the time was needed to effectively make the changes – but in actuality this request was a ruse and the credit companies disingenuously used the window as a last ditch attempt to grab more money out of the pockets of Americans with exorbitant interest hikes.

In their enduring campaign to turn the “Land of the Free” into “The United States of Serfs and Lords,” as well as gain political advantage by preventing Democrats from enacting policies that help average Americans, Republicans lived up to their “Party of No” moniker and stopped the bill in its tracks.

Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), on Wednesday afternoon, asked for unanimous consent to move the bill forward.

“On behalf of several senators on this side of the aisle, I object,” said Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.). And thus the “Party of No” made sure the credit companies can continue to rape the People – just in time for the holidays.
