Republican Dirty Tricks

In spite of the fact that every 12 minutes another American dies because they lack health insurance, the call for the United States to join the rest of the industrialized world and guarantee health care as a right of citizenship rather than a privilege is being blocked by the health industry’s darlings in the Congress.

So-called “Blue Dog” Democrats, who are rolling in health insurance industry money, and (not surprisingly) Republican Olympia Snowe have received Millions of dollars in contributions from various health industry lobbyists to ensure that the American People continue to spend significantly more on health care than any country and are rewarded with a shorter life expectancy as well as the threat of being one serious illness away from a “Uniquely American” Medical Bankruptcy, as 1.5 million Americans experience each year, three-quarters of whom have health insurance.

For reasons unfathomable, President Obama continues to court Olympia Snowe in order to put a “bipartisan” face on insurance reforms.  Snowe, being indebted to her health insurance industry benefactors, continues to propose a “trigger” clause for the Public Health Insurance option that over 70% of Americans support.  The “trigger” to be pulled if and when the ghouls in the health insurance industry don’t play nice with all their new, government mandated, customers.

Without a Public Option, any health insurance reform is guaranteed to be a big wet kiss to health insurance companies that don’t actually provide any value, but are simply running a mafioso-style middle-man racket, skimming 30% off the top so those like Unitedhealth Group’s Stephen Hemsley can have a 124.8 million dollar payday.
